Western Star to Display Versatile MBT-40 Transformer at MINExpo 2016
The Western Star 6900XD Multi-Body Transformer MBT-40, a chassis that can quickly convert from dump truck to tanker, was on display in the Western Star booth (#24211) at MINExpo 2016, Sept. 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Available for the Western Star 6900 truck model, the MBT-40 eliminates the need for multiple pieces of dedicated off-road equipment on job sites that go unused for long periods of time. It can easily change from one fully functional in-cab controlled body application to another. Its multiple hydraulic, air and electrical connections allow it to connect and power a variety of bodies from flow-controlled hydraulic motors and pumps to heavy, high-flow tip cylinders. The in-cab control system and a self-adapting hydraulic system also allow operators to quickly and easily swap the controls of multiple body applications.
Available for all-wheel drive and standard drives, the package includes a Detroit™ Series 60 Tier 3 engine or a Detroit™ DD16® engine; an Allison 4700/4800 Off-Road Series transmission; 110,000 lbs planetary rear axle; 28,000 lbs planetary front axle; and a front engine skid pan.
The MBT-40 truck that was featured at MINExpo 2016 is based on a 6900XD chassis spec’d with Western Star’s new XD (Extreme Duty) Offroad package. To demonstrate its versatility, the MBT-40 will be displayed with a Klein K800 water tank and a J&J 35-ton load bed.
The Western Star booth also featured the rugged 6900XD-40, 40-Ton Off-Road Hauler, as well as other extreme solutions for the mining industry. . To find a Western Star dealer, visit WesternStarTrucks.com or call 866-850-STAR (7827).
