CASE “Dire States” Panel at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014
CASE Construction Equipment will host a Dire States panel discussion at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 in the CASE booth (N-11722) to highlight the problems facing American infrastructure and what can be done to remedy the situation. The panel will take place on Thursday, March 6 at 10:00 AM and be moderated by Adam Snider, transportation reporter for Politico. The panel will feature:
- Jim Oberstar, former U.S. Congressman and Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee
- Janet Kavinoky, executive director, transportation & infrastructure, U.S. Chamber of Commerce
- Dan McNichol, author and infrastructure expert who just circumnavigated the country to survey America’s infrastructure and raise awareness to the need for investment/development
- Jim Hasler, vice president, CASE Construction Equipment
The panel discussion serves as a finale to McNichol’s infrastructure road trip throughout the United States to help raise awareness to the crumbling state of the nation’s infrastructure. McNichol travelled the country in “Mrs. Martin”, a 1949 Hudson that is as “old, rusty and energy defunct” as America’s infrastructure, putting more than 11,000 miles on the car. McNichol and Mrs. Martin will be on hand throughout the show in the CASE booth to discuss his travels and his unique perspective of the challenges we are facing today. McNichol’s travels, including writings, photos and videos from the road, will be continually updated at DireStates.com.
“This is a discussion we’re going to carry on because it’s vital to not only the construction community, but to the American public as a whole,” says Hasler. “Infrastructure development has proven to have far-reaching impact on everything from jobs and the economy to national defense. It’s our responsibility as members of this community to shine a light on the issue and help spur new development not only on the federal level, but with state and local governments as well.”
