New and Improved PC700LC-8 from Komatsu
According to Komatsu, the most significant improvements to their new PC700LC-8 hydraulic excavator centre on the operator environment, with comfort, safety and precision at the forefront.
As with all Komatsu excavators, the PC700LC-8 comes with a low-noise comfortable cab featuring a fixed laminated front windscreen for increased operator protection, a heated high-back air-suspension seat, and rear-view camera as standard. Also new is a widescreen LCD colour monitor panel which integrates KOMTRAX ‘Step 3 functions with fuel-consumption monitoring.
Beyond these direct comfort and performance benefits, the new PC700LC-8 has a gross horsepower of 323kW and an operating weight between 65.5 tonnes and 67.1 tonnes. Bucket capacities up to 5.58 cubic metres can be installed, depending on boom and arm length, material density and application conditions.
An arm ‘quick return’ circuit combined with a new arm regeneration valve increases work equipment speed and reduces fuel consumption.
The PC700LC-8 features many upgrades and reinforcements compared with its sister machine, the PC600-8, including a significantly increased undercarriage size with a drawbar pull of 465kN, and a strengthened revolving frame, fully enclosed by under-guards to protect the machine piping and preventing damage to the hydraulic components and engine.
The machine has several operational modes whereby the operator can match engine output to the work at hand, thereby further reducing fuel usage and emissions.
Moreover, the PC700LC-8 is equipped with Komatsu’s KOMTRAX ‘Step 3’ technology, which provides daily machine information through a secure website utilizing wireless technology. Features now include energy-saving reports with tips for a more fuel-efficient operation, location, cautions, load ratios, and maintenance alerts. All data is relayed to the web application for analysis.
